This week we had a lot of laughs playing volleyball and a lot good food, too. We also said goodbye and good luck to Jordan as he leaves for his mission in the Phillipines!

FHE - Fishing at Waimea Landing

We reached the pier just before sunset and cast our lines. We waited for the fish to bite . . . and the people to come . . .

We waited . . .


and waited . . .


and waited . . .


Then, one by one, the people came . . .














But the fish still didn't bite . . .


At the end of the night, the only fish that we caught, was the poke in our cooler!


But that's okay because we enjoyed the fresh ocean breeze, the food, and the laughs! And like Abe shared in his lesson, we should be "fishers of men"! Read on . . .

After the Resurrection of the Savior, Peter and some of the disciples were at the Sea of Tiberias. Peter announced to them that he was going fishing. The disciples agreed to go with him. They seemed to have forgotten that they were called to be fishers of men. They fished through the night but caught nothing. In the morning Jesus, standing on the shore, told them to cast their nets on the right side of the ship, and the nets were filled with fish. Jesus told them to bring in the fish they had caught; Peter and his associates landed 153. When they came ashore they saw fish being cooked on a fire of coals, and the Savior invited them to eat the fish and some bread. After they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Lovest thou me more than these?” 3 Peter was an ardent fisherman. Catching fish was the livelihood from which the Savior called him to become a fisher of men.

The requirement that we should love the Lord above fish, bank accounts, automobiles, fine clothing, stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit, or any other possession is total; it is absolute. The first commandment given unto the ancient Israelites was “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” 4 The Savior Himself amplified this command when He told the lawyer who asked Him which was the greatest commandment, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.” 5 (James E. FHE - Dance Dance Revolution in Hanamaulu

We got groovy with Dance Dance Revolution. Once again, it was boys against girls. But this time, the girls let the boys win! At the end of the night, hoppy Nephi (despite his excuse of an injured back) was the DDR champ, winning by only 1 point to Wendi! Thanks to Kehau for opening your home, and thanks to Jim for flexing those muscles and bringing the DDR!

FHE - Volleyball in Waimea

Against the girls' advice, the boys insisted on playing boys against girls. But after losing three games in a row, the boys wised up and mixed the teams. Boys, the girls are still waiting for their chocolate chip cookies! Two hours and six games later, we filled our growling stomachs with some ono food - kalua pig, chicken adobo, patele, and Abe's special chicken. Thanks to Tressie for the pictures and Cas for the gym!

FHE - Crepe Night

This week, we met at Nephi's house for some crepes, lots of brownies, no hamburgers :), and a lesson on gratitude.
